SINCE 2017

story
/baohaus/ is a food venture established in 2017, created not only to provide food service, but to weave together cultural heritage, art, and social connection through the traditions of dumplings and bao. The name reflects both culinary and creative influences: bao, representing "baozi" and "jiaozi" as staples of Chinese food culture, and haus, inspired by the functionality and simplicity Bauhaus design movement of 1919, which also shaped my background in photography and design.
Over the years, baohaus has grown into a familiar presence at community and cultural events such as Albury City Cultural Activation and The Pumphouse Opening for Creatives. Each dish is handmade with love and passion, preserving the symbolic meaning of dumplings and bao as foods of celebration, prosperity, and unity. We also run workshops, inviting people to learn the craft of making dumplings and bao from scratch while sharing the stories behind their cultural significance in ancient China.
We positions ourself as affordable, everyday food, but with an offbeat, art-driven brand image. Rather than crowding social media with conventional food visuals, we carefully curates our presence with the sensibility of an art gallery vibe - minimal, experimental, and sometimes "offbeat" to reflect culture, tradition, and creativity.

/culinary
Everything is made by hand, from the dumpling wrappers to the bao fillings. The recipes come from family traditions but I’ve added my own touches, keeping the food honest, and comforting.

/culture
We are rooted in the belief that food carries cultural meaning. Dumplings and bao symbolise prosperity, family unity, and celebration in Chinese tradition.

/art
Influenced by my background in design and photography, and by the Bauhaus movement’s focus on simplicity and function. I see this project a bit like an art space-curated, sometimes playful, sometimes unusual. Something to eat and something to experience.
